Civilian found dead with gunshot wounds in Thenmaradchchi

Mr.S.Balakrishnan (60) father of four children was found dead Thursday night with gunshot injuries along roadside in Thotty Amman Kovil area in Mirusuvil north in Thenmaradchchi division in Jaffna district. On receipt of information a the Kodikamam Police rushed to the site and recovered the body, Police said

Mr. P. Subramaniam, Chavakachcheri Magistrate accompanied by the Kodikamam Police went to the scene where the body was found Thursday night around 11 p.m. and held the inquest. He later instructed the Police to hand over the body to the mortuary of the Valvettithurai hospital, sources said.

Police said it was revealed at the preliminary investigation that the deceased had been displaced from Ottakapulam in Vayavilan area during the 1990 military operation launched by the Sri Lanka Army and was residing in Mirusuvil area since then.
