Paramilitary cadre shot and killed in Valaichenai

Dead body of a Valaichenai youth identified as Mr. Rajeenthan Selvarajah, 27, was found by Valaichenai Police in Palainagar Thursday morning. Mr. Rajeenthan, a paramilitary cadre from Karuna Group, was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman around 7.30 PM Wednesday night while he was returning to his hideout after paying a visit to his house in Thiyavedduvan, residents said.

The gunman had used a T-56 rifle, according to the Police.

Last year, in August 2004, unidentified gunmen shot and killed Rajeenthan's brother Nijanthan, who also belonged to Karuna Group, sources said.

The body was handed over to Valaichenai Hospital by the Police.
