[TamilNet, Thursday, 14 July 2005, 05:07 GMT]
Mr.S.P.Thamilchelvan, Political Head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is to meet all twenty-two Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians of the northeast province on Sunday evening at Killinochchi political secretariat. Mr. Thamilchelvan is expected to brief TNA parliamentarians about the thinking of LTTE leadership on the present volatile situation in the northeast, TNA sources said
Political circles give more importance to the proposed discussion between the leaderships of the LTTE and TNA as the current ground situation in the northeast is getting worsened daily following killings of unarmed LTTE political activists and Tamil civilians in government controlled areas in the east, sources said. LTTE has accused that the Sri Lankan military and the Military Intelligence are behind all such killings of LTTE cadres in government-controlled areas in the east with paramilitary groups working with it. Colombo has denied involvement of its forces in such killings. The LTTE has said that it is the duty of the government to provide security to all unarmed LTTE political activists who have come to government-controlled areas to do political activities, according to the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) between Colombo and the Tigers. Following the killings of LTTE political activists at Chelvanayakapuram in Trincomalee on Sunday, political activities of the LTTE in the east have come almost to standstill, Tamil sources said.
