APC attacked in Jaffna

Four Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were wounded when a Buffel APC was attacked by the Liberation Tigers at around 2.00 p.m today at Atchuveli in the Jaffna peninsula, said sources. However, an SLA press communique stated that there were no casualties in the attack in which the APC was slightly damaged.

The sources had said that the injured soldiers were taken to the hospital in the SLA's Palaly military complex. A local resident claimed that 2 soldiers had been killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, the body of a Sri Lankan Policeman, Bandhulla Vijeyasri who had shot himself was brought to Vavuniya hospital today, said sources.

Vijeyasri had committed suicide whilst on guard duty in a bunker at Thuttuveva, east of Vavuniya.
