SLA soldier shot in Eravur

A Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldier was shot and injured Monday noon at Vantharumoolai in Eravur, Police said. The soldier, N. Dhinapala, attached to Kommanthurai camp of the SLA, was on duty at 19th Mile Post in Vantharumoolai when he was shot by an unidentified gunman who used a T-56 rifle from long distance, Eravur Police said.

The injured army soldier was admitted to Polannaruwa base hospital.

Eravur Police is conducting investigations into the shooting incident.

VantharumooIai is located 17 km. north of Batticaloa.

Last Sunday, an SLA soldier was shot and killed at the same location.
