Batticaloa youth shot dead in Colombo

Mr. Kirupaharan Krishnapillai, 28, a Tamil youth, who was shot by unidentified gunmen Tuesday night around 11:30 p.m in Colombo, succumbed to gunshot wounds Wednesday morning around 6:30 a.m. at Colombo Hospital, Police sources said.

Mr. Kirupaharan, a resident of Sithandy in Batticaloa, was staying at a lodge in Colombo waiting to go abroad, according to the staff at the lodge.

Two unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night entered the lodge, located on Hussaniya Lane connecting with Dam Street, and shot the victim.

The reason behind the killing was not clear, according to the Police conducting investigations into the killing.
