Jaffna under police curfew

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) controlled areas in the Jaffna district have been brought under thirty two hour police curfew with effect from Thursday night 8.30 p.m. till Saturday 5 a.m. Jaffna residents said monitoring news broadcast of the FM radio station run by the SLA from Palaly Military Headquarters.

Chunnakam Police also confirmed that curfew has been clamped down, Jaffna media sources said.

Earlier, it was said only Valigamam division has been brought under curfew. However residents monitoring Palaly FM radio station said areas under the control of the army has been brought under curfew, sources said.

Meanwhile protesting people at Inuvil junction left the area following the announcement of curfew, civil sources said.
