IGP visits Jaffna, briefs police officials

Sri Lanka's Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr.Chandra Fernando Saturday paid an official visit to Jaffna and held discussion with officers-in-charge of all police stations in the district. The discussion was held at the office of Police Headquarters at Kankesanthurai, which is located in the high security zone, police sources said.
The discussion centered on the murder of Mr. Charles Wijewardene, Jaffna Police Superintendent Thursday evening at Inuvil by angered mob following the killing of a Tamil civilian by a soldier. Mr.Chandra Fernando returned Saturday evening by air. He did not visit the scene of incident where the killing of Tamil civilian Santharoopan and Mr. Charles Wijewardene took place, sources said.
