Private bus owner abducted in Vavuniya

Unidentified men abducted a private bus owner, Mr. Balachandran Karikaran, 40, at gun point on Goodshed Road, 1.5 km. west of Vavuniya town Sunday around 8:30 p.m., sources in Vavuniya said.

The abductors attacked the victim's wife who intervened to persuade them to release her husband. She was admitted to Vavuniya Hospital with cut injuries.

LTTE's Political Co-ordinator for Vavuniya town, Mr. Tharmendra, said that witnesses have notified the registration number of the vehicle used by the abductors to the LTTE office.

Vavuniya Police is conducting investigations into the incident.
