Tigers attack Police post

A Police constable (PC) was killed an another seriously wounded when the Liberation Tigers attacked the Uppuveli junction Sri Lankan Police post in Trincomalee town in a surprise attack around 8.45 p.m. this evening, said police sources in the eastern port town.
The Police post is situated in a very high security zone under jointly defended and supervised by the SLA, Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF), Sri Lankan Navy (SLN) and military trained Sri Lankan Police units. The sources said that about four Liberation Tigers who came by boat had opened fire at the post and charged grenades, said residents in the area. The Tigers had withdrawn soon after the attack they said. The dead PC was identified as Samrasinghe and the wounded PC's as Senaratne. The Uppuveli Sri Lankan Police post is located near the Trincomalee railway station.
