Youth found dead in Nelliyady garage

Nineteen year-old Mr.Thavarasa Girishanthan of Idaikurichchi in Karaveddy area in Jaffna district was found dead Tuesday hanging on the beam of a garage located at Arasady junction about one km off from Nelliyady. The police suspect that the youth was strangled to death and later had been hung, sources said.

Mr.K.Ariyanayagam, Point Pedro Magistrate Tuesday afternoon visited the scene of the crime and ordered postmortem examination on the body.

Point Pedro Police removed the body from the garage to the Point Pedro base hospital for postmortem examination, sources said.

Preliminary investigation into the crime revealed that the deceased at that time of the crime had been staying alone in the garage, police said.
