Col. Sornam briefs INGOs, NGOs in Trincomalee

Colonel Sornam, Trincomalee district military commander of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam Tuesday addressed the delegates of the international and national level non-governmental organizations (INGOs and NGOs) in the Trincomalee district about the urgency to expedite rehabilitation of war and tsunami affected people and the reconstruction of devastated areas, sources said.

About thirty district heads of the INGOs and NGOs attended the discussion held at Ganeshapuram Central College in Muttur east.

Mr.Semmanan, Deputy Political Head of the LTTE in Trincomalee district said the ban imposed by the Sri Lanka Army to transport building materials, cement and other items to the LTTE controlled areas has delayed the construction of temporary houses for tsunami victims.

The SLA has imposed the ban alleging that these building materials and cement were being used for the construction of an airfield in Sampoor by the LTTE. That was not true, Semmanan said.
