Trincomalee children peace camp concludes

Two day "Children Peace Camp" organized by the Centre for Performing Arts
(CPA) for children of the internally displaced people sheltered in five welfare centers located in suburbs of Trincomalee town, Allesgarden, Linganagar, Manaiyaveli, Division No: 10 and Andanakulam, to mark the International Children Day held at Hindu Cultural Hall in the east port town concluded Sunday night. About two hundred children from all three communities, Tamil, Sinhalese and Muslim participated in the camp.
The first day camp Saturday morning began with lighting of the traditional oil and silent prayers for the victims of violence and natural disaster. Children later participated in the theater workshop and seminar on peace study, health and education. In the evening they attended the peace campfire. Dr. T Kadambanathan, Psychiatrist was the chief guest. The Special Guest was Ms Danielle Atkins, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the CPA and the Guest of Honors were Mr.P.M.M.Sabiz and Ms Sepali Ranasinghe Additional Deputy Directors of CPA. Children participated in indoor games including carom, and out door games including cricket, football and Kabbadi. Those children excelled in their activities were awarded with certificates and prizes. Variety entertainment was held later, sources said.
