Trinco TRO felicitates Sinhala, Muslim, Tamil pre-school teachers

About six hundred pre-school teachers from all communities, Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils, in the Trincomalee district were felicitated by the Pre-School Educational Development Centre (PSEDC) of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) at an event held Thursday in Trincomalee New Silver Star Hotel to mark the World Teachers' Day.

At the commencement of the event, all pre-school teachers were taken in a procession from the historic Pathirakali Amman Temple to the venue led by musicians playing Thavil and Nathaswaram, sources said. Mr.S.Wijekumar, TRO Trincomalee Director hoisted the TRO flag and Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham, Trincomalee district parliamentarian hoisted the PSEDC flag. Thereafter two minutes silence was observed for the dead in the war and tsunami. Mr.T.Thavasilingam, Chairman of the Trincomalee District NGOs Consortium and representatives of national and international NGOs also attended the event. Mr.Thurairatnasingham addressing the gathering as the chief guest said pre-school teachers are playing vital role in the society by instilling human values in the minds of younger generation.
