[TamilNet, Friday, 21 October 2005, 17:12 GMT]
Tamileelam Police Friday opened a new office in LTTE controlled
Pallai area enabling the Jaffna district residents to settle
disputes. Mr.Naga Paramanathan, acting head of the
Jaffna District Inquiry Unit of the Tamileelam Police said people could
seek the services of the newly opened office to settle civil disputes, sources said.
Civil sources in Jaffna said Tamileelam Police opened the new office
on request from civilians in government controlled areas as they were
unable to find satisfactory solution to their disputes within the existing Sri Lanka Police system. Civilians alleged that there were complaints of bribery and corruption in
Sri Lanka police stations during the process of registration of complaints and during the resolution phases, sources said.
