Trinco Inner Wheel Club assists war, tsunami victims

The Trincomalee Inner Wheel Club, women wing of the Rotary Movement handed over sewing machines and livelihood assistance to war widows and tsunami victims under income generating project at an event held at the Trincomalee Rotary House. SCOT, a non-governmental organization in United Kingdom funded the project.

Ms. Mangales Pathmanathan, Vice Chairperson of the Sri Lanka's Inner Wheel District 322 was the chief guest. Mr.A.J.Z.Singarayer, Trincomalee Rotary Club President was the guest of honour.

Ms. Rajeevi Vigneswaran was installed as the new President of the Trincomalee Inner Wheel Club for the current year 2005-2006. Ms. Ranji Thirumugam, outgoing President handed over the responsibility to the successor at the event.

Ms Mangales Pathmanathan said at the occasion that the Trincomalee Inner Wheel Club has been supporting the war and tsunami victims in a constructive way.

She commended the services of the club to less fortunate in the community.

Dr Ms Koushi Gnanagunalan, Secretary of the Club said in her vote of thanks that Trincomalee district is in need of support to widows. The club pays more attention to tsunami and war affected women and school going students.

Four students Masters Sabanadesan Kalatharan and Sivapathasuntheram Ramytharsan of Trincomalee Koneswara Hindu College who came first in Mathematics and Commerce in the Trincomalee district in the GCE Advanced Level Examination and Ms Fathima Sanwa Habeebulla of Thoppur Al-Hambra Maha Vidiyalayam and Ms Balatharshyani Muthusami of Trincomalee Sri Shanmuga Hindu Girls College who came first in Arts and Bio-Science in the district respectively were honored at the event.
