FMM condemns attack on journalist

Free Media Movement (FMM), in a press release issued Tuesday in Colombo condemned the attack on Mr Wahab, a correspondent to Tamil Language newspaper Thinakaran, in Akkaraipattu on the 14 November. A grenade lobbed into Mr Wahab's house by unknown assailants exploded causing damage to his house, but no one was injured.
Full text of the press release follows: Free Media Movement deplores and condemns the grenade attack on journalist I.H. A. Wahab's house which took place midnight 14th November 2005. Mr.Wahab is provincial correspondent of state run television station ITN and Tamil language news paper Thinakaran in Muslim dominated Eastern town of Akkareipattu. A grenade was thrown into his house in Akkareipattu around 11.30 pm on 14th November it exploded destroying some glass windows of the house. No one was injured in the incident. Mr.Wahab also works as media coordinator for a leading politician working for the government candidate in the coming presidential election.
