Brattskar visits tsunami transit camps in Mullaitivu

Norwegian Ambassador in Colombo, Hans Brattskar, toured tsunami affected Mullaitivu area and visited transit centers housing tsunamil refugees to directly witness their living conditions. Ambassador Brattsker arrived in Mullaitivu at 2.30 p.m. Sunday after travelling overland from Jaffna via A9 highway, sources said.

Mr Brattsakar met Rehabilitation Task Force officials at their Mullaitivu offices and was briefed on the issues confronting the officials to cater for the short term and long term needs of the refugees. Ambassador Brattsker then visited tsunami battered villages of Kallappaadu and Mullainagar and saw the tsunami devastation there. Later he went to the Unnapulavil transit camp where he talked to the families and children living in the camp. Yarlamuthan from LTTE's Planning and Development Secretariat, Sudarmani and Yarlavan from the LTTE Peace Secretariat, Amitab from Tamil Rehabilitation Organization and Karithuraipattu Predeshya Sabha official went along with Mr Brattskar and another Norwegian Embassy official during the Mullativu visit.
