TELO member shot at in Batticaloa

A member of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO), Seenithambi Rajan (27), escaped unhurt from an attack in which he was shot at by unidentified gunmen at Navakudah, 5km south of Batticaloa, around 11:00 a.m. yesterday, said sources in Batticaloa.

Rajan, sporting the nom de guerre of Parathan in the TELO, was travelling from Aariyampathy to Batticaloa on a motorbike when he was shot at by two youths using a pistol fitted with a silencer, said sources.

Rajan escaped injuries and the assassins ran away.

Rajan complained to the Katankudy police who cordoned off and searched the area.
