UNP opposes parliament adjournment

No bomb was recovered in the chamber of the parliament and the bomb scare was a ploy of the government to adjourn the parliament with a hidden agenda, said Mr.Tissa Attanayake, Deputy General Secretary of the main opposition United National Party (UNP) at a press briefing held Thursday evening.
The press conference was organized by the UNP to express its condemnation
for the adjournment of the parliament, sources said. Mr. Attanayake said the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), which
attacked the parliament with grenade and bombs and threatened
parliamentarians with death in 1987, 1988 and 1989 during the UNP
regime is now saying that there is no security in the parliament for
parliamentarians. Mr.Tissa Attanayake said the JVP knows the truth behind the bomb scare
created by the government. UNP severely condemns the adjournment of
parliament, he added.
