Four Punguduthivu fishermen who disappeared after going for deep sea
fishing Sunday night were found to have been arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) soldiers, sources from Jaffna said. The SLN has accused the fishermen of
possessing explosive material in their boats.
Relatives of Perumal Chandramohan, 24, Emanuel Anthony Jude, 27, Packiyanathan Ranjan, 28, and Gopalasamy Rajakumar, 23, had registered a complaint with the Human Rights Commission (HRC) officials in Jaffna Monday that the fisherman had not returned from fishing in northern deep seas. HRC officials after initial inquiries discovered that the fishermen were in Sri Lanka Police custody at the Kayts Police station and informed the relatives, sources said.
