Ex-LTTE cadre shot dead in Batticaloa

Mr Navarasan, a former member of the Liberation Tigers, was shot dead in Valaichenai by gunmen suspected to be members of a paramilitary group at 9.45 p.m. Wednesday, sources in Batticaloa said. The incident took place along Vishnu Kovil Road in Kiran.

Mr Navarasan was in LTTE three years ago.

He is married and his wife is expecting a child, area sources said. No additional details are available at this time.

The body is still lying on the location where he was killed.

Kiran is located 25 km north of Batticaloa.
