LTTE leaders meet Swiss officials, attend expat event

Swiss foreign ministry officials met with the Liberation Tigers delegation led by Chief Negotiator and Political Strategist, Anton Balasingham on Friday at Chataeu De Bossey, Geneva where talks between the LTTE and the Government of Sri Lanka was held. On Saturday the delegation attended a large gathering of Tamil-Swiss expatriates in the Convention Hall in Frieberg, Switzerland, sources in Geneva said.

Mr. Bernadino Regazzoni, Switzerland’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Greminger, Mr. Heiniger, Ms. Gabrial and officials from Switzerland’s Foreign Office participated in the talks which focussed on the future steps to be taken by both parties to effectively implement the CFA were discussed in the meeting. Mr. Reto Meister, ICRC Delegate General for Asia and the Pacific also had a meeting with the LTTE delegation, LTTE peace secretariat website said. On Saturday, the members of the LTTE delegation, S.P Thamilchelvan, and Mr Balasingam, the LTTE delegation for the peace talks consists of former Southern Forces Commander Col.Jeyam, Head of the Tamileelam Police, P Nadesan, and former Batticaloa District Political Head of the LTTE, Mr. Ilanthiraiyan (Marshall).attended a large gathering of Swiss Tamil expatriates and spoke on the ground situation. The event labelled "Viduthalaiyin Vaasalil" (At Freedom's edge) ended with music and cultural events.
