Mobile service to assist NorthEast farmers

Mobile service organized by the NorthEast Provincial Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Development, Lands, Irrigation and Fisheries in all eight districts of the province is to be inaugurated at Pampaimadu in the Vavuniya Divisional Secretariat on Monday, April 3rd. The service will identify problems faced by the farmers and to provide immediate solutions, said Provincial Ministry Secretary Mr.A.R.M.Mahrouf in a press release issued Saturday.

Departments under the purview of the provincial ministry will be conducting services to cater to the needs of the public. The mobile service would also include supply of seeds and planting materials, soil testing programme, provision of health care facilities to the livestock sector and fingerlings stocking in minor irrigation tanks, and advisory services, a press release stated.

The departments will also create awareness among the public on numerous services and assistance being extended by the. Demonstrations of various modem technologies will also be carried out concurrently during the mobile service, the release added.

The mobile service will be held at Mulankavil in Poonagari Divisional Secretariat in Killinochi district on April 04, and at Mallavi in Thunukkai divisional secretariat in Mullaitivu district on April 05.

The mobile service will resume on April 17th in Puttur in Kopay divisional secretariat in Jaffna district on April 17, at Nanattan in Nanattan divisional secretariat in Mannar district on April19, at Kaluwanchchikudy in Kaluwanchchikudy divisional secretariat in Batticaloa district on 21st April, at Pottuvil in Pottuvil divisional secretariat in Amparai district on April 24 and Thambalakamam in Thampalakamam divisional secretariat in Trincomalee district on April 27, the press release added.
