Janatha Vimukthi Peramunai (JVP), the marxist Sinhala national party's Kegalle office was attacked and three JVP members injured Saturday evening by a group alleged tobe belonging to United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA), said JVP sources.
Sunil Wickremasinghe, JVP's Kegalle candidate in the local council polls is presently being treated at the Kegalle Teaching hospital, added the sources. Meanwhile, Deputy General Secretary to the United National Party (UNP), Atha Tissanayake, said the votes polled for his party and the seats captured, indicate that his party's position has improved. The election results clearly shows that the people, on realizing the true nature of the JVP and the Jathika Hela Urumaya parties (JHU) , have rejected them, he added.
