Two home guards shot dead in Welikanda

Two Muslim Home guards, Salmaan Pitchaikutty Adambava,34, and Seyyad Buhari Saheed, 30, were shot dead by two unidentified armed men on a motorcycle, Friday morning around 7:00 a.m., at Kudapahuna, Welikanda police said.

The killed home guards, returning home after night duty, were waylaid and shot by the gunmen who fled the scene after the shooting, added the sources.

The dead bodies of the two home guards were taken to Polannaruwa hospital where death inquest was held, said the police.
