A final decision with regards to LTTE's stand on CFA talks in Geneva would be taken only after LTTE commanders from the East attend a crucial central committee meeting with the Tiger leadership, Liberation Tigers Political Head Mr. S. P. Thamilchelvan told media after a meeting with the representatives of Co-chairs at the LTTE Peace Secretariat in Kilinochchi Monday.
Japanese Ambassador Akio Suda, European Union Ambassador Julian Wilson, Ambassador of the Netherlands Reynout van Dijk, and Norwegian Ambassador Hans Brattskar represented the Co-chairs of the Tokyo Donors' Conference in the meeting with LTTE delegation in Kilinochchi. Colombo was not flexible and was attempting to impose new routines for the sea-travel of eastern LTTE commanders to attend a critical preparatory meeting before the next session of Geneva Talks, Liberation Tigers Political Head Mr. S. P. Thamilchelvan told the reporters. Asked about the reports from Canada on a move to enlist the LTTE as a banned organation in Canada, the LTTE Political Head said that the move would only encourage the Sinhala nationalists to intensify anti-Tamil and anti-peace campaign aimed at routing the peace process. "The move would definitely hurt the Tamil sentiments," commented Mr. Thamilchelvan. Colombo has been failing, from the very basic humanitarian post-tsunami agreement to the implementation of the CFA, and the LTTE has been tolerant, flexible and constructively committed to a peace process for more than four years, Mr. Thamilchelvan said. In a statement read at the end of the meeting the Co-chairs said, although violence has decreased after Geneva I they are disturbed about the outbreak of violence in the last few days. Co-chairs also discussed the commitments made by both sides in Geneva I. "As we did with the Sri Lanka Government, the Co-chairs call upon the LTTE to live up to its commitments," the statement said.
