Karaitivu Pradesiya Sabah office opened

The administrative office of the newly created Karaitivu Pradesiya Sabah (PS) in the Amparai district was declared open Saturday by Mr.C.Pathmanathan, Amparai district Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian. Parliamentarians of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Mr.Hasan Ali and Mr.S.Nijamudeen, also participated in the event, sources said.

The Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchchi (ITAK) captured the administration of the Karaitivu PS at the election held on March 30.

Of the five members, four went to the ITAK and one to the SLMC. Karaitivu PS comprises villages of Karaitivu, Malaigaikadu and Mavadipalli. Earlier the Ninthavur PS administered these villages, sources said.

Mr.Pathmanathan said the Karaitivu PS should have to work diligently to promote unity among Tamils and Muslims.

Mr.Hasan Ali said Muslims and Tamils should not give room for chauvinist elements to ruin their unity. Chauvinist elements are behind forces that are agitating for the de-merger of the province, he said.

Mr.Nijamudeen also spoke.
