"Innocent Tamils are being killed even now by the Sri Lanka armed forces and the paramilitary groups working with them. Erecting a monument in memory of the innocents alone is insufficient. Tamileelam police officer Jeevanantham, Mr. Pasupathy of the Political wing if Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and Mr. Perambalam the father of two martyrs, lit the Common flame. Mr. Daniel, the Administrative Chief of the Tamil Eelam Museum cut the ribbon and declared open the monument. The Deputy Political Head of the LTTE Mr. S. Thangan hoisted the Tamil Eelam national flag and Administrative head of the Martyrs Office lit the flame of sacrifice.
