Blast destroys telecomtower

A telecommunication tower owned by the company Mobitel, at Nittambuwe, 30 km south of capital Colombo on the Colombo - Kandy road, was destroyed when two bombs exploded this morning, said police sources.

Two bombs exploded within a time span of one hour, they said.

Two police inspectors who had gone to inspect the damage after the first explosion were critically wounded when the second bomb exploded. The officer in charge of the Nittambuwe police station, Indike Hapogodae has been admitted to the Colombo hospital.
