Attacks against SLA escalate in Jaffna

Three Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers and three civilians were
injured in four incidents of grenade attack in Jaffna
peninsula Tuesday, sources from Jaffna said.
In a grenade attack by unknown assailants near the Kondavil,
Uppumadam SLA camp at 2.30 p.m. Tuesday, two SLA soldiers were seriously injured sources said. In another grenade attack at the Point-Pedro, Palaly Road junction, near Ariyakulam junction at 5.30 p.m., one SLA soldier was injured and three pedestrians were wounded, sources said. Ms T Jegatheeswary, 20, from Vadamaradchy East Thalayadi, K. Vimalan, 21, from Kottady in Jaffna and A. Sairaj, 15, from Aanaipanthi Jaffna were seriously injured and have been admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, according to medical sources. Two other attacks on SLA positions, one near Sangilian Road
close to Nallur Temple and another at 5.30 p.m. at Arasady Road
Jaffna took place Tuesday. Details of injuries or casualties are not known at this time. Also the A9 highway has been closed from 3.45 p.m. Tuesday.
