Families without permits ordered to leave

Peoples Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) has ordered the residents of the Kovilkulam, Irambaikulam areas, who do not hold permanent residence permits, to vacate the area before August 10, said sources.

Sources in Vavuniya said that between 100 and 150 families will be affected by the PLOTE's announcement.

Meanwhile some representatives of the affected families met PLOTE cadres to discuss the issue.

However, the PLOTE has said that they would not change their decision and that their decision was related to the security of their cadres.

The representatives of the families are expected to meet the Government Agent (GA) of Vavuniya on Monday.
