Three SL Police officers killed in Vavuniya claymore attack

Three Sri Lanka Police officers including a seargent was killed in a claymore attack in Thuttuwewa, a Sinhala settlement along Horawapotana road at 10:05 a.m. Saturday, Vavuniya Police said. The mine was fitted to a tracter with a water bowzer in tow, sources added.

Vavuniya district court judge, Manicavasagar Ilancheliyan visited the explosion sight and directed the Vavuniya police to conduct investigations.

The bodies have been taken to the Vavuniya General Hospital for postmortem examinations, hospital sources said.

Thuttuwewa is located 12 km southeast of Vavuniya town and 16 km northwest of Kebitigollawe where a claymore explosion on a passenger bus killed 64 and injured more than 90 passengers, mainly Sinhalese civilians, Thursday.
