Mannar Police arrest TRO volunteer

One of the volunteers of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), engaged in providing assistance to injured civilians warded in the Mannar district base hospital, was arrested by the Mannar Police on Sunday evening, TRO officials said.

The volunteer, S. Antony of Alankulam in Mannar district and a father of two children, was providing help to the civilians who were injured in the indiscriminate attack by the troopers of the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) when they sought refuge in Pesalai church.

TRO volunteers had been providing food, clothes and other assistance to these victims warded in the hispostal, TRO sources said.
