SLA informant shot dead in Jaffna

Vijayarajah, 53, from Araly North near Vaddukoddai, alleged to be an informant of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), was shot dead by unidentified gunmen close to the Mawaththai playgrounds in Araly, Thursday at 5:30 p.m., sources from Jaffna said.

Tharmalingam Vijayarajah lived at Iyanar Veethy in Araly, and was involved in several robberies, local residents said.

He turned an army informant after SLA officers obtained his release from police arrest following several robberies, sources said.

Vijayarajah is a father of six children.

Araly is located 10 km northwest of Jaffna town.
