Mr.S.Elilan, Trincomalee district political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) addressing Black Tigers Day celebrations held Wednesday morning in Kathiraveli in Vaharai division, LTTE sources said.

At the commencement of the event photographs of Black Tigers sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle were taken in a procession led by LTTE military parade with band in attendance. Head of a school in the area lit the flame of sacrifice. LTTE military training instructor Kilman hoisted the Thamileelam national flag. Mr.Elilan garlanded the photographs. Mr.Elilan in his address further said the Operation Liberation military operation launched by the Sri Lankan government in the north of Jaffna in 1987 was thwarted because of the strength of Black Tigers. Attack by Black Tigers on the Katunayake international airport in 2001 helped the Tamil freedom struggle to take great strides. Black Tigers in future too would play a decisive role in taking
