SLA soldiers gun down MPCS branch manager in Mannar

The Manager of Manthai South Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society (MPCS) branch in Uyilankulam, was gunned down by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers at Manatkulam Junction, 14 km southeast of Mannar town, while he was returning home. Police said that the MPCS manager was hit when SLA troopers opened fire after a grenade attack on the checkpost. The incident took place around 5:45 p.m. Thursday.

The victim, Sindathurai Christy Anton, 40, a family man, was returning home in Puthukkamam from the MPCS shop in Uyilankulam.

Police has handed over the dead body to Mannar General Hospital at 8:45 p.m., medical sources said.
