Home Guard, Tamil civilian killed in Serunuwara

Unidentified persons shot dead Nagarajah Suntharalingam, 34, Poonagar in Eachchilampathu on Monday morning in the Seruvila police division. Meanwhile Serunuwara Police Monday recovered the body of a home guard identified as Nissanka Ranjith Bandara at Sri Mangalapura, a Sinhala settlement located close to Serunuwara police station, police sources said.

Muttur Magistrate Mr.M.Ganesharajah directed the District Medical Officer of the Serunuwara government hospital to hold post-mortem examination on the body of Mr Suntharalingam and to submit his report to court, legal sources said.

The Magistrate further instructed the Serunuwara Police to conduct inquiry into Mr Suntharalingam's killing and to submit a full report to the Muttur Magistrate's court, legal sources said.

Nissanka Bandara was cut to death on Sunday night around 10.50 p.m. by unidentified men, police sources said.

On a report submitted by Serunuwara Police Mr.M.Ganesharajah, Muttur Magistrate directed the Medical Officer of the Serunuwara hospital to conduct post-mortem examination and to hand over Bandara's body to relatives, sources said.
