Police constable shot dead in Amparai

Jeyapalan Rajendran, 36, who was abducted from near Mandanai Refugee Camp Thursday afternoon, was found shot to death at 7:00 a.m. Friday, Thirukkovil Police said.

Rajendran who lives in 4th district in Vinayagapuram, was abducted when he was going to work in his motorbike when unknown gunmen abducted him some distance from the Police station

Gunmen brought him to a secluded area behind the Mandanai camp shot him at short range and escaped after leaving his body near the camp. He died on his way to the Thirukkovil Hospital, police said.

Thirukkovil is about 78 k.m. south of Batticaloa.
