Blast at Vavuniya EPDP office

A grenade exploded at the Vavuniya office of the paramilitary Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) located at Kurumankadu, in Vavuniya, around 2.25 p.m, Friday. It was not confirmed if it was an attack or a bomb went off accidently, sources said. No damage was caused to the office.

Meanwhile, in the east, unidentified persons lobbed a grenade at the residence of Mr.Mohamed Sally Mohamed Subair, Divisional Education Officer, around 10.30 p.m., Thursday, police said.

His house is located in Ottamavadi in Valaichchenai police division, about 32 km north of Batticaloa town.

No casualties were reported, according to police.
