Bank Manager shot dead in Jaffna, employees protest

A well-known literary figure and General Manager of People's Bank, KKS Branch, was shot at point blank range allegedly by the Intelligence operatives of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), at Thirunelvely, a suburb of Jaffna, around 7:45 a.m., Friday.
Pon. Ganeshamoorthy, 56, killed when he was getting ready to go to work from his residence at the Post office junction in Thirunelvely, according to sources in Jaffna.

Bank employess gathered in front of People's Bank Jaffna Branch office and marched through the town centre. The protestors shouted slogans and carried placards as they marched through Stanley road, KKS road and Powerhouse road. Later they picketed outside the KKS Branch Office of Peple's Bank, which is currently functioning in Jaffna centre because KSS (Kankesanthurai) is demarcated by the Sri Lanka Army as High Security Zone (HSZ). Pon Ganeshamoorthy had won prizes and won accolades from the leader of Liberation Tigers for his literary contributions to Tamil, his relatives said.
