Muslim massacre accusation, a fabrication - Thamilchelvan

Responding to the accusation by Colombo that during the Muthur clashes Liberation Tigers abducted and killed Muslim civilians, Political Head of Liberation Tigers, S.P.Thamilchelvan, in a media interview, said that the accusation is a total fabrication by Colombo which is trying desperately to divert the attention from its tenuous military position in Trincomalee naval base.

"During the humanitarian crisis precipitated by the Muthur clashes, we were creating safe passages near Pachchanoor area for Muslim civilians to move out of the battle areas.

"Our fighters identified and apprehended paramilitaries trying to infiltrate through the safe passages we created for civilians.

"While our fighters were interrogating some paramilitaries, the compound came under Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) bombardment. No one, including our cadres, emerged alive from that compound.

"Colombo is trying to twist this incident as a massacre by our cadres.

"We have no compulsions to arrest Muslim youths. Our main mission was against, and targetted towards the occupation forces of Sri Lanka Government.

"We categorically deny that there is any truth in Colombo's accusation," Thamilchelvan said.
