Thondaman, Chandrasekaran join UPFA government

The Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) led by Mr.Arumugan Thondaman and Upcountry Peoples Front (UPF) led by Mr.Periyasamy Chandrasekaran Friday joined the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) government led by President Mahinda Rajapakse, political sources said.



Mr. Thondaman and Mr.Chandrasekaran were sworn in as Cabinet rank ministers Friday morning around 9.40 a.m. and 10 a.m.by President Mahinda Rajapakse. The event was held at the Presidential secretariat. Two more parliamentarians of the CWC Mr.Muthu Sivalingam and Mr.M.Sachchithnandam and one parliamentarian of the UPF Mr.P.Radhakrishnan were sworn in as Deputy Ministers.

The list of new ministers and deputy ministers follows:-

Mr.Arumugan Thondaman- Minister of Youth Empowerment and Socio-Economic Development.

Mr.Periyasamy Chandrasekaran- Minister of Socio-Development and Development of Socio-Equality.

Mr.Muthu Sivalingam-Deputy Minister of National Building and Infrastructure Development.

Mr.M.Sachchithanandam-Deputy Minister for Education.

Mr.P.Radhakrishnan-Deputy Ministry for Vocational Training.
