One killed, another injured in Jaffna

Two unidentified armed men riding a motor cycle shot and killed a young man in Atchuvely town, around 7 a.m., Tuesday.

Yogarasa Thamilchelvam, 23, was killed while was opening his ice cream parlour in Atchuvely, sources said.

Separately, gunmen in a white van shot and seriously injured a school teacher in Karavedy, Tuesday afternoon.

T. Sivanandam 26, a teacher in the Vanni district, was on his way to his home in Karanavai when he was shot.

He was first rushed to Manthikai hopital in Pt. Pedro. He was later transferred to Jaffna Teaching Hospital for intensive treatment, according to hospital sources.
