Woman killed, boy wounded in SLAF bombing

A 52-year-old woman was killed, a 10-year-old boy and a 38-year-old man were wounded Wednesday morning around 10:00 when two Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Kfir bombers dropped more five bombs on civilian settlements in Karadiyanaru and Vadamunai in Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) controlled territory, northwest of Batticaloa town, sources in Batticaloa said. The Kfir bombers returned to Uthuchenai at 11:00 a.m. and bombed the area for an hour.
Vairamuttu Arasamma, 52, was killed in Karadiyanaru. Two cilvilians, M. Roshan, 38, and K. Gopu, 10, were wounded in Paalchenai. No casualties were reported in Uthuchenai. Six houses were destroyed in the SLAF bombing, residents said. Two of the five bombs in Karadiyanaru did not explode, they said. On July 29, two Tiger officials and 6 cadres were killed when Kfir jets bombed LTTE's Thenaham Conference Centre in Karadiyanaru, 24 kilometers northwest of Batticaloa.
