Three civilians killed in Jaffna

Three civilians were shot dead by unidentified men in the northern Jaffna peninsula in three separate incidents on Sunday and Monday, civilian sources said.
Navaratnam Mahinthan 17, a street vendor was shot dead around 11:00, Monday, at Muneeswaram road in Jaffna town.
He is from Kaithady east. Separetley, Ramiah Krishnakumar, 38, an auto auto owner was shot at Tempel road in Nallur, around 2:30 p.m., Monday.
The victim was from Kalviyankadu, a suburb of Jaffna town. He was travelling in an auto-rikshaw when he was shot and killed. On Sunday, two gunmen riding in a motor cycle shot and killed an auto rickshaw owner while he was standing in front of his house in Urumparai, around 11 a.m. He was identified as Sellathurai Sutharsan, 27, of Urumpirai. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), conducted a cordon and search operation in Alaveddi after after imposing local curfew, Monday morning. Many civilians were detained for further inquiries. It is not known if they were later released, sources said.
