Body with gunshot wounds recovered in Vavuniya

An unidentified body of a middle-aged male with gunshot wounds to his head was recovered in Thavasikulam area in Vavuniya Sunday afternoon, Vavuniya police said. From information obtained from copies of receipts found in victim's clothes, Police speculated that the victim is likely to be a trader from Manal Aru area.

Vavuniya Police Officier-in-Charge (OIC), Kumara Chandanayake accompanied by troops of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) visited the crime scene, and transferred the body to Vavuniya General Hospital, police sources said.

The victim is estimated to be 45-years old.

Police are conducting further investigations to establish the identity of the victim and to find the assassins, police sources said.
