Four killed in STF's failed offensive in Amparai

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) repulsed a major Sri Lankan Special Task Force (STF) troopers offensive against LTTE held Kanchikudichanaru in Amparai from the Kanchirankuda Special Task Force (STF) camp, backed with heavy artillery fire, Monday around 7:15 a.m, said M. Veeramani, Deputy Head of Amaparai district LTTE political wing. Four Sri Lankan Special Task Force (STF) troopers were killed and eight seriously injured in the attack, he added.
Three LTTE cadres have sustained minor injuries, Veeramani said. Meanwhile, the STF official reported that one of their troopers was killed and three seriously injured in the above offensive. Heavy artillery fire and shelling from the STF camps in Kanchirankuda and Sangamaankandy directed on the LTTE held area followed STF's failed offensive, LTTE sources said. Meanwhlie, unidentified armed men took away at gun point 3 private tractors engaged in rehabilitation construction work at Pothuvil in Ammaprai district Sunday around 3:30 p.m, said Pothuvil police to whom complaints of the theft was made to. The tractors, two from Akaraipattu and one from Lakala were being used in constructing houses to the tsunami affected persons in Reddaikulam area in Amparai district.
