Night-watchman disappears in Vavuniya

Night watchmen at the Pampaimadu, Vavuniya Ayurvedhic Hospital has been reported missing from Wednesday 6:00 p.m., a complaint filed by his relatives at Vavuniya Police said. His possessions and motorbike were found intact inside the building by the Police, according to police reports.

Somasundaram Sathiyakumar, 42, has been a regular nightwatchman at the site for several years, his relatives said.

Motives for his abduction are not known.

Meanwhile, the strike by private bus operators in Vavuniya protesting the disappearance of Nadarajah Sathiyamoorthy, 43, a private bus driver, for the last four days, was suspended Thursday, said Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian Sivanathan Kishor.

Sathiyamoorthy was abducted by unknown men Sunday, and his whereabouts are not yet known.
