Muthur Tamil youth released

Muthur Magistrate Manickavasagar Ganesharajah Thursday discharged a Tamil youth who was accused of having links with LTTE for lack of evidence, legal sources in Trincomalee said. The prosecuting police officer told court that he has no evidence that implicates him on the alleged offense.

The Muthur Police arrested the youth, Sivalingam Thevarajah, of Iruthayapuram on December 22 on suspicion when he was in Muttur town to buy provisions. The Magistrate ordered the police to submit a full report about the suspect and remanded him till January 11.

Thevarajah was released by the court to his relatives after the court hearing.
